₦7.47 Billion Derivation Fund: Osabuohien Francis, Where Is the Impact in Orhionmwon Beyond Sienna Vehicles and Motorcycles

The Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOPADEC) was established to promote social, infrastructural, and economic development in the state’s oil and gas producing areas through the 13% derivation fund.

According to my brief research, ₦7.47 billion was received by Edo State commission headed by Mr Francis Osabuohien in the first quarter of 2026 from the 13% derivation fund, out of the ₦321.90 billion shared among oil producing states in the Nigeria (NBS, FAAC)

This raises an important question as to What tangible impact has this ₦7.47 billion had on Orhionmwon?

Having examined the projects being presented by the Commission in other part of the state which appears to be old projects awarded under previous administrations but with zero presence of the board In orhionmwon.

This therefore raises another question, Where is the impact of the current EDSOPADEC Board in Orhionmwon? Beyond three Sienna vehicles and seven motorcycles, what new development can the people of Orhionmwon point to as evidence of the current Board’s intervention?

The people deserve answers, transparency, and tangible projects that reflect the resources generated from their communities.

This is just a test of the microphone with the EDSOPADEC Chairman Mr. Osabuohien Francis
