I Remain ADC Candidate for Orhionmwon South Constituency – Collins Omoruyi
A political controversy has reportedly emerged within the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) in Orhionmwon Local Government Area following a publication circulated in the early hours of Tuesday, July 7, 2026, announcing an alleged change of the party’s candidate for the Orhionmwon South Constituency seat.
Mr. Collins Omoruyi, who maintains that he emerged as the duly nominated candidate of the party through the ADC primary election, has strongly rejected the publication, describing it as false, misleading, and a calculated attempt to undermine the democratic process within the party.
According to Omoruyi, the publication purported to replace him with Mr. Daniel Edosa Orobosa without his knowledge, consent, or any officially recognized process of the party. He insists that no legitimate procedure was followed to justify such a decision and that he remains the authentic flag bearer of the Africa Democratic Congress for the Orhionmwon South Constituency.
Reacting to the development, Collins Omoruyi expressed deep disappointment over what he described as an unfortunate attempt by certain individuals to hijack the mandate freely given to him by party members.
“It is both shocking and disappointing to wake up to a publication announcing another person as the party’s candidate without my knowledge. I participated in the party’s primary election, emerged victorious, and have since commenced consultations and campaigns across the constituency. No individual or group has the authority to arbitrarily substitute my name without due process,” he said.
He further called on the leadership of the Africa Democratic Congress at the state and national levels to urgently investigate the matter and ensure that justice, transparency, and the party’s constitution are upheld.
Omoruyi also appealed to his supporters and members of the party to remain calm, law-abiding.
Meanwhile, several concerned youths from Orhionmwon have condemned the alleged attempt to replace the party’s candidate, describing the development as unfair and unacceptable. According to them, any action capable of undermining the outcome of a valid party primary election threatens internal democracy and the collective aspirations of party members.
The youths urged those allegedly involved in the matter to reconsider their actions and embrace fairness, warning that any attempt to impose a candidate outside the recognized democratic process could create unnecessary tension within the constituency.
They also advice Mr. Daniel Edosa Orobosa to exercise caution and ensure that he is not drawn into actions that could generate avoidable political conflict or destroy his repetition.
Supporters of Collins Omoruyi describe him as a grassroots politician who has dedicated years to the development of Orhionmwon through youth empowerment, community engagement, and advocacy for good governance. They argue that his commitment to the people and his consistent involvement in community development earned him the overwhelming support of party members during the primary election.
According to his supporters, “An injustice against Collins Omoruyi is an injustice against the youths and people of Orhionmwon who believe in fairness, equity, and democratic values.”
Collins Omoruyi reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Orhionmwon South Constituency and maintained that he remains the authentic candidate of the Africa Democratic Congress.
He concluded by urging all party faithful, supporters, and stakeholders to remain united, peaceful, and focused on strengthening the party ahead of the forthcoming elections..
