Edo State Regional Development and Benin City Masterplans; Orhionmwon/Uhunmwande play host to Governor Obaseki

 

The Executive Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki yesterday held an interactive section with stakeholders in Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode comprising of traditional and religious leaders, market women, youth and student representatives at the Conference Hall of the newly built College of Education Abudu, Orhionmwon Local Government Area.


The stakeholder's engagement bothered in the need for all hands to be on desk in achieving the vision of the regional plan to make Edo State a resourceful and sustainable region where every citizen is empowered with opportunity to live life in it's fullness.

In her opening remarks, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Physical Planning, Housing, Urban and Regional Development, Mrs. Isoken Omo said the purpose of the interactive engagement is to carry the people along in the plans and policies of the government.


According to the comprehensive document detailing the modalities being put in place to achieving the goals, Honourable Isoken Omo said, "the Masterplans will guild infrastructural development in the state and capital city respectively for the next 30 years. Masterplans developed in the past were not fully implemented. These Masterplans are living documents because they were developed in partnership with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) tasked with implementing them. They are designed, taking into cognisance the comparative advantages of each Local Government Area."

On his part, Governor Godwin Obaseki said, "the lack of a master plan in Edo has hindered growth and development in the State. Over the past seven a half years, we have made significant strides and still committed to not leaving the State the way we found it. We'll establish a comprehensive plan for the next 30 years, guilding successive administrations in developing the State".


The Governor expressed gratitude to the people of Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode for their usual collaboration and contributions toward the State's Masterplans.


Appreciating the Governor and his Teams for the numerous landmark projects across the local government area. The Chief Host, Honourable Newman Ugiagbe used the medium to highlighted some of the projects which includes, College of Education, Abudu, the ongoing reconstruction of Benin-Abraka road, the Palm-Plantation revolution in Orhionmwon. He assured the Governor of Orhionmwon people's cooperation and collaboration in achieving the set objectives of the Edo State Regional Development and Benin City Masterplans.


Present at the stakeholder's interactive engagement were Honourable Kenneth Adodo, Chairman of Uhunmwode local government council,  Honourable members representing Orhionmwon South and Uhunmwode constituencies Honourable Bright Iyamu and Honourable Kaycee Osamwonyi respectively, Civil Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries.



Others includes, vice Chairmen of Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode local government areas Honourable Midwest Ogbebor and Honourable Bright Egharevba, Enigie and Odionmware from both local government areas, the 22 Councilors, Secretaries, Special Advisers, Religious and Youth leaders and  representatives of the student communities.
