Orhionmwon Council Boss signs 4.5BN Budget into Law

 




The Executive Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government Council, Honourable Newman Ugiagbe on Thursday 1st of February, 2024 signed the 2024 Appropriation Bill into law after the Legislators passed the bill into law.

Honourable Ugiagbe presented the sum of N4.4BN to the legislative arm of the government December 29, 2023 but the house passed a sum of N4.5BN indicating that a sum of 100M was being added to the initial amount presented.

The budget christened; Budget of Massive Infrastructural Development, a sum of N2,862,688,145.74 was earmarked for the Capital Expenditure while the Recurrent Expenditure gulped N1,726,811,854.26.

Speaking during the budget signing, Honourable Ugiagbe said the 2024 budget would move the local government to the next level in Infrastructural development. He said the Legislators had painstakingly considered the budget and passed same as well. He lauded them for the comprehensive scrutinisation and swift passage of the Appropriation Bill.

The Edo State ALGON chairman assured that the budget would be used to drive down more developmental projects while improving the living standard of the good people of Orhionmwon. He said, "this budget was intentionally tagged 'Budget of Massive Infrastructural Development' because we want to deliver on our campaign promises to the people, the obligation lies on us to ensure the dividends of democracy get to our people".

The leader of the house, Honourable Daniel Osariemen had earlier said that the Appropriation Bill was received in December last year, that it's expeditious passage was made possible because of the commitment and dedication of his colleagues. He assured the people of Orhionmwon that the legislative arm of the government will continue to mountain the developmental cordial relationship with the Executive arm for the overall interest of the people.
