Asue Ighodalo emergence; Edo PDP gets it right - Ugiagbe

Orhionmwon Local Government Council Chairman, Honourable Newman Ugiagbe has hailed the emergence of Barrister Asue Ighodalo as the People Democratic Party's candidate in the September 21st, 2024 Edo gubernatorial election.

The Edo State ALGON Chairman while applauding the PDP National Working Committee for putting up men and women of impeccable characters to handle the primaries election, he urged other aspirants to see the outcome as a victory for the PDP not just Asue Ighodalo.


The Okogbo born political steamroller praised the 37 Orhionmwon delegates for casting their votes for the Okaigben, Ewohimi born former Nigeria Brewery Chairman. Saying Edo PDP gets it right in the choice of Ighodalo. Honourable Ugiagbe said Ighodalo's pedigree and his vast knowledges in both private and public sectors eminently qualified him for the Osadebe Avenue's job

Ugiagbe said that the will of the majority of the party faithfuls were made  manifest  through delegates, describing the whole processes as transparent and credible. He said the whole exercise from the accreditation of delegates, votings and counting were all captured on live telecast, setting the standard for other parties to emulate.

The estwhile Chairman, Sterling Bank Plc, Barrister Asue Ighodalo pulled a total votes of 577 as announced by His Excellency Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara state and returning officer of the election held at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium.

The Council Boss congratulated Barrister Asue Ighodalo and thanked Orhionmwon PDP Leaders, Delegates and members for the unflinching support and dedication accorded the party at the local government level, saying the task ahead is to replicate the overwhelming victory recorded at primaries in the general election come September 21st.
