Don't be cowed into giving up your Right; First Lady admonished Orhionmwon women

_...inaugurates Women Advisory Committee_

The First Lady of Orhionmwon local government council, Mrs. Tina Ugiagbe has commended the ever industrious and resilient women of Orhionmwon for the major roles they played during the just concluded council elections that brought her husband to office as Executive Chairman.

The commendations were made during an interactive strategic meeting held with some selected women leaders at the council's secretariat yesterday. Mrs. Ugiagbe said the meeting was called to chart the way forward as mothers and also for them to get actively involved in the governance of Orhionmwon.

In her words, "let me assured you women of Orhionmwon that your yarning and aspirations are topmost in my husband’s developmental agenda for Orhionmwon. I admonished you women not to be cowed into giving up your right in the face of numerous economic and social challenges. It is not in doubt that Orhionmwon women have now got a chairman that will empower women. My husband will certainly put women empowerment as a priority".

Acknowledging the important roles of women in development, she said it is imperative that an Advisory Committee is inaugurated to enable the women leaders in the area to meet monthly to discuss matters relating to women development in the Local Government Area.

Women stakeholders that attended the interactive session with the First Lady include: the Deputy Leader, Orhionmwon legislative council Hon. Elizabeth Ehimwenma, Councilor representing Ukpato ward; Hon. Faith Aigbovbuosa, wife of the Secretary to Orhionmwon Local Government Council; Mrs. Priscilla Aideyan, wives of Honourable Councilors, Supervisors, party and market women leaders in Orhionmwon.
