Edo Council Elections; Orhionmwon PDP roundoff Ward-2-Ward campaigns as Labour Party emptied into PDP in Ukpato Ward

Ukpato/Okogbo: Orhionmwon chapter of the People Democratic Party yesterday 24th of August concluded the Ward to Ward rallies ahead of September 2nd Council Elections in celebrations and thanksgiving for a successful political evangelism outings. The so elated Orhionmwon PDP chairmanship candidate Deacon Newman Oghomwen Ugiagbe sincerely appreciated party leaders, political associates, campaign team and the media for the unflinching support and commitment towards his journey to Orhionmwon council top job. 


Honourable Ugiagbe earlier the day hosted the leaders and party members in his country home. He said the reception was specially put together by his immediate family to express how grateful and delighted he is to be considered for the party ticket and promised to give his best when elected. Ugiagbe said, "my leaders, I want to sincerely thank you all for standing by me since the commencement of the campaign, is not easy leaving all your personal important engagements to be with me. We've toured all the 12 Wards together and by the special grace of God everything have been made easy by your deep commitment to the project".


Speaking further, Ugiagbe sued for continue collaborative efforts in building a strong united party were leaders in one voice push for the development of the local government area. He said, "the only task before us today is continue to have a united house like this. If we speak with one voice in pushing Orhionmwon course, our local government will experience tremendous amount of facelift. God and our Ancestors will help me be that beacon of hope and unifying icon".


On his part, former Commissioner for Agriculture and leader of Orhionmwon PDP Barrister Chris Agbonmwangbe on behalf of the party said PDP made no mistake fielding a versatile political guru to fly the party's ticket. He said, "we have no doubt your ability to deliver good governance to our people, as an experienced and versatile political entity, your performances would be felt across the nooks and crannies of Orhionmwon. We believe your mandate will herald that desire economy and infrastructural development all of us yearn for".


Meanwhile, handful of Orhionmwon Labour Party members led by Comrade Okifo yesterday denounced Labour Party membership and thrown their supports behind the candidacy of Deacon Newman Ugiagbe of the PDP. Giving reasons for the unapologetic decision, their leader Mr Okifo said it will be very unwise and foolish not to support their illustrious son who have touched the lives of many of them especially in Okogbo and Evbohia communities. In his words, "I'm dumpling the Labour Party today with this crowd you're seeing here, this is Ukpato project we're talking about, only a fool will join outsiders to fight his brother. Be rest assured of our sincere commitment to this project, many will still be joining before the election"



Receiving the new members into the PDP fold, the party chairman Prince Stanley Iduoze admonished them to feel at home saying "in PDP we don't have new comers, you're all entitled to the same things old members enjoy too". The LGA chairman issued them PDP membership cards while their former cards destroyed.


Various leaders who spoke during the campaign rally urged Ukpato sons and daughters to ensure they vote massively for their son. Some of the leaders are Deacon Festus Osaigbovo, Ambassador Wesley Asoro and Lady Uwa Osunbor. Other leaders present includes Hon. Nosayaba Okunbor, Hon. Chris Nehighare, Hon. Osazee Osewemgie-Ero, Dr. Mrs. Nosakhare Aladeselu, Barrister Osahon Ahuwan, Comrade Osahon Imaru and Barrister Charles Aideyan. Vice chairmanship candidate Hon. Midwest Ogbebor, the 12 Wards councilorship candidates and host of other top  leaders
