Obaseki Flags Off Reforestation Program In Orhionwon As Edo Marks 30yrs Anniversary

Edo Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. ASORO Roland,  Other Dignitaries Plants Trees To Encourage Reforestation. 


Edo State Governor his excellency Gov. Godwin Obaseki on 27th of August 2021 Flags off the Reforestation program to plant ten million trees In next ten years, in orhionwon local government area of Edo State, to mark Edo 30 years anniversary. 


While emphasising on the need to encourage forestration, the governor stated in his speech;

 "As we celebrate Edo at 30 today, our emphasis and focus must be on environmental sustainability. In the post-fossil fuel era, we must strive to redevelop our natural resources in forestry and its value chain. 

That is why I will be planting trees as a significant step in leading our forestry regeneration goal of ten million trees in the next ten years"

The speaker of the seventh Edo State House Of assembly Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun who was ably represented  by his deputy Rt. Hon Asoro Roland while addressing Newmen  speaks on the important of the forest to the society, 

Which according to him ranged as an integral part of national growth, providing a wide means of production inputs, goods, food, fuel, medicines, household equipment, building material and raw materials for industrial processing, create employment for  citizenry and guarantee healthy living for all humans. 

This program initiated by his excellency to mark Edo 30years anniversary indeed is a  welcome development as it will enable us reflect on our past to recreate our future just like we are doing now, he added. 

The high point of the ceremony witnessed the planting of trees by various dignitaries present, which include the Gov. Of Edo State Mr. Godwin Obaseki, The Deputy Speaker EDHA Rt Hon Asoro Roland, Senator of the federal Republic of Nigeria Sen. Matthew Urhohide, Secretary to Edo state governor Barr. Osarodio. Ogie, and the Commissioner of Police, Edo State, to mention but  a few. 

Other state personalities from Orhionmwon present  at the event were Rt. Hon. Nosayaba Okunbor, Hon. Newman Ugiagbe, Elder Ben Ughumu and barr. Charles Aideyan.
