Edo At 30: Why Govt Is Planting 10m Trees

As part of activities to mark the celebration of Edo State thirty years anniversary, the state governor Mr. 

Godwin Obaseki has flagged-off tree planting to ensure proper implementation of reforestation program.

The program is gear towards planting ten million trees in next ten years within the state while using Orhionmwon local government area as a starting point.

According to the Obaseki; celebrating Edo at 30 today is focus on the need to have a sustainable environment.

"We are planting trees today as a significant step in leading our forestry regeneration goal of ten million trees in the next ten years.

"As government we must strive to redevelop our natural resources in forestry and its value chain because we are looking at the era of post-fossil fuel".

While enumerating the importance of program, the speaker, Edo State House of assembly Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun said tree presents in our environment will continually plays integral part of national growth and providing a wide means of production.

Representated by the his deputy Rt. Hon Asoro Roland noted that goods, food, fuel, medicines, household equipment, building material and raw materials for industrial which commands healthy living are proceeds from good environment.
